Vets Now Appoints Group Finance Director

Peter WoodVets Now, the Out of Hours provider of emergency care for animals, today announced the appointment of Peter Wood as Group Finance Director for the organisation.

Peter's remit will include developing the strategic plan for the Group, overseeing acquisitions and expansion opportunities, with overall responsibility for the financial management of the business.

Peter trained as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in Scotland and moved to London with the firm to specialise in corporate finance in the mid-market sector, advising management teams on MBOs and helping business owners realise value in their businesses.  Peter returned to Scotland at the end of the 1990s to take up the position of Group Finance Director at leading branded fashion retailer USC, where he was a key member of the management team that delivered a trebling in size of the business to £100m+ turnover within five years, as well as rapid profits growth, and saw the retailer become one of Scotland's largest private companies.

In recent years Peter has continued to focus on providing hands-on support to entrepreneurial fast-growth businesses including heading up Grant Thornton's Growth and Strategic Services service line in Scotland and latterly as Group Finance Director of Melville Capital, the Edinburgh-based investment boutique which supports early stage consumer and technology businesses with global potential as they implement their growth strategies.

Currently one of five finalists in the Bank of Scotland/Sunday Times Entrepreneur Challenge of the Year Awards 2008, Vets Now is recognised as one of the UK's most successful entrepreneurial and fast growing businesses and the appointment of Peter Wood comes at an exciting time for the organisation.

Colin Clark, Financial Director for Vets Now and also founder of Clark Associates, one of Scotland's foremost corporate finance firms will retain his involvement in company acquisitions and will also remain on the Board of Trustees of Pet Blood Bank UK, the national canine blood donation charity which Vets Now launched in 2007.
