Sukie - Bradford
Sukie was admitted to Vets Now in Bradford on the 10th of June 2005 after she had been attacked by a dog. Her owners Pamela and Maurice Manktelow had contacted their own vets Avenue who referred them onto Vets Now as they used the emergency clinic to provide their out of hours care.
When Sukie’s owners called Vets Now they were understandably upset and concerned for Sukie’s health. The Vets Now team asked them to bring her straight down to the clinic where they were prepared and ready for arrival. Mr and Mrs Manktelow were able to get her to the clinic in 15 minutes.
Sukie’s owners told us more about the visit, “The care with which she was handled was excellent. The situation was very serious – but it was explained and handled very delicately.”
The Vets and Nurses at Vets Now found that Sukie had some soft tissue wounds to her back left leg, which was possibly fractured or also had ligament damage. As Sukie was visibly distressed after the attack the Vets Now team’s first priority was to settle Sukie and give her pain relief to make her comfortable. She was then kept in overnight for observation before being transferred to her own vet the following morning for further treatment.
Sukie’s owners went on to say, “The treatment she had whilst at Vets Now was exemplary. As professional they new what they were doing – the vet and nurse making a first class team.
“Reading between the lines of what our vet said only served to confirm our one impression that the immediate and appropriate professional care offered by the clinic literally saved Sukie’s life. We are now happy to report that she is making an excellent recovery, to everyone’s delight,
“We cannot speak to highly of the vet and nurse who dealt with Sukie. We wish to put on record our grateful thanks, and report their efforts were not in vain.”
In the case of Sukie receiving immediate treatment was essential to ensure a full recovery, as the Vets Now clinic is permanently staffed Out Of Hours by qualified vets and nurses they were on hand and ready for Sukie’s arrival to ensure treatment could begin immediately.
