An excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon who is looking to step up to a senior role where you will manage a small and friendly team as well as continue with your clinical work within a well established practice in Reading.

Role Summary
As Senior Veterinary Surgeon, you will take on the management of the Vets Now clinic team, ensuring that your clinic delivers high clinical standards and exceptional levels of customer service. In addition to the management of the Vets Now team you will also be central in development of local relationships with your member practices. You will have responsibility for the financial success of your clinic and along with your Regional Business Manager you will ensure that the clinic meets its full potential and is a successful part of the Vets Now network.

Role Requirements
An ideal candidate will have strong surgical abilities and be very confident working sole charge.

You must be fully qualified and RCVS registered and UK graduates must have successfully completed the RCVS PDP or have two years experience in small animal practice. Overseas graduates must have two years experience in small animal practice with at least 6 months being within an English speaking environment. You should also be comfortable working sole charge and be confident in your clinical ability.

You should also be a strong team player with an enthusiasm to develop your management skills and the ability to lead, motivate and develop the team.

Working Pattern
As a Senior Veterinary Surgeon one of your responsibilities is the management of the vets’ rota.  As a guide, a typical full time shift pattern would involve working 3 nights per week along with a share of weekend days and public holidays.

Your working hours will be split between clinical work and management duties.

Shift times are a share of: Monday to Friday nights from 6.30pm to 8.30am, Saturday night 6pm-9am and Sunday night 6pm to 8.30am), plus a share of weekend day shifts (Saturdays 12noon-6pm, Sundays 9am-6pm).

Clinic Description
Vets Now Reading provides Out Of Hours emergency cover for veterinary practices across the region (covering around 20 practices). The clinic is purpose built and offers a pleasant working environment with separate dog and cat wards and separate dog and cat theatres. It is large with plenty of kenneling space and piped gases throughout. There's a good range of equipment – radiography, ultrasound, multiparameter, endoscopy and ECG.
