Vets Now, the UK’s leading provider of dedicated Out of hours emergency and critical veterinary care, have joined forces with Animedic a company that specialise in the design and build of animal transportation solutions, to raise the public profile of Veterinary Ambulances by launching a petition to allow Veterinary Ambulances to employ the Green Light Scheme.
Under The Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations Act 1989, The Green Light Scheme currently only permits doctors or those registered with the General Medical Council to make use of a flashing green beacon when en route to and at the scene of an incident. However, we strongly believe that as critical response drivers, vets, nurses and animal care assistants who operate Veterinary Ambulances should also have the right to alert other road users to their presence when in an emergency situation.
