You’ll be well supported in your management of our new Out Of Hours clinic in Ipswich with assistance from our expert regional team, your Senior Nurse, as well as an excellent induction and ongoing training programme. What’s more, you’ll retain an interesting hands-on involvement, treating a varied emergency caseload.

Role Summary
This Senior Veterinary Surgeon role will see you to take on the management of the Vets Now clinic team, ensuring that your clinic delivers high clinical standards and exceptional levels of customer service. In addition to the management of the Vets Now team you will also be central in development of local relationships with your member practices.

Of course this role will also provide you to provide veterinary care to urgent and critical patients, seeing a varied case load on most shifts, ensuring you work within a stimulating and interesting work environment. Vets Now are committed to continually developing the standards of clinical care we provide and as Senior Veterinary Surgeon you will work closely with your Regional Clinical Manager to help drive clinical standards.

As a manager you will also have responsibility for the financial success of your clinic and along with you Regional Business Manager you will ensure that the clinic meets its full potential and is a successful part of the Vets Now network. You will be fully supported in running the clinic by a Regional Team (clinical and non-clinical support) and in addition to this you will receive an excellent induction and ongoing management training programme.

Who we're looking for
An ideal candidate will have strong surgical abilities and be very confident working sole charge. You must be fully qualified, RCVS listed with at least 6 months small animal experience within an English speaking practice. You should also be a strong team player with an enthusiasm to develop your management skills and the ability to lead, motivate and develop the team.

Working Pattern
As a Senior Veterinary Surgeon one of your responsibilities is the management of the vets’ rota; but as a guide, a typical shift pattern would involve working 3 nights per week along with a share of weekend days and public holidays. Your working hours will be split between clinical work in the clinic and management duties.

Clinic Description
Vets Now Ipswich is due to open summer 2010 to provide an Out Of Hours emergency service on behalf of Member Practices across the region. Based in a modern and friendly private practice, with excellent facilities, the clinic will provide a lovely working environment. You’ll have access to the latest equipment, including a digital x-ray, ECG, I stats, IDEXX machine, Multi parameter monitor and flexible and rigid endoscope.

Your CPD

You’ll receive clinical skills development and paid CPD through our tailored On-Site Training Programme, a thorough induction including ECC refresh and management training, as well as a very generous CPD allowance to develop your own particular ECC areas of interest.
